Apply for Fall 2012 Scholarship

Dennis Unger, director of University College at Bath/Brunswick, is pleased to announce the availability of the

Paul Hanley

Paul Hanley Memorial Scholarship for the Fall 2012 semester. The scholarship fund was created in 2011 with donations from University College at Bath/Brunswick students. To qualify for the scholarship, a student must attend classes at UCBB, be in a University of Maine at Augusta bachelor’s degree, have earned more than 30 credits, have a minimum GPA of 2.5, and have demonstrated volunteerism.

The Paul Hanley Memorial Scholarship application (pdf) is also available at the UCBB front office. The application deadline is March 30, 2012, for a Fall 2012 scholarship in the amount of $375.

Please complete the application and attach a résumé and a personal statement expressing why you feel that you should be awarded this scholarship, including information about your community service. Applications will be accepted at the UCBB front office. Late or incomplete applications will not be considered.

Paul Hanley was a Phippsburg resident and long-time student at University College who passed away in 2010; the scholarship was established in his honor by fellow students. Hanley was awarded his Bachelor of Arts degree posthumously at the University of Maine at Augusta 2011 commencement ceremony.

People can make contributions to the Paul Hanley Memorial Scholarship by dropping off or sending a check, payable to UMA, to University College at Bath/Brunswick, 9 Park Street, Bath, ME 04530. Please write “Paul Hanley Memorial Scholarship” on the check.
