For the best online experience, a broadband connection to the Internet is recommended.
Many Internet Service Providers (ISP) throughout the state offer connections through Digital Subscriber Lines (DSL) and over cable modem systems.
If you don’t have broadband service now, the Maine Office of the Public Advocate maintains a rate and coverage guide with comparisons of local services at http://www.maine.gov/meopa
Your computer hardware should meet these minimum recommendations:
|Microsoft||Windows XP SP2, Vista, 7, 8.x, 10
2.33GHz or faster processor
|Apple||Mac OS 10.6+ (Intel-based)
1.8 GHz or faster processor
|Supported Browsers||Latest versions of Microsoft Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome
|Broadband signals are best when connected directly to your computer.||Wireless home routers may not deliver the full bandwidth available from your ISP.|
Software requirements for online courses will vary according to the subject of study. However, a word processing program can be considered essential. Specific course requirements will be part of the syllabus.
