History:

In 1996, a Senior College program was established at the University of Southern Maine in Portland. In 1999, the program was expanded to York County through the University College at Saco, and offers courses in various locations in York County. We are governed by a volunteer committee who oversees the general operations of the College.

Courses:

  • There are Fall and Spring classes each year; classes generally run for eight weeks–unless otherwise stated in the registration brochure.
  • The majority of Senior College courses are taught by volunteer senior peer-teachers on subjects of interest to the members.
  • No tests are given and no grades are assigned.
  • Scholarships are available for anyone who may have difficulty covering the cost of the course.
  • The Fall schedule is available in August; it will be mailed out to current members and will also be posted on this page for download (see above).
