Student Success

Christine Merrill

As a new student coming in, there are a lot of fears that come along with becoming a student. That you are not going to have enough time?

It was very convenient to come here. I had children in pre-school and elementary school, and the schedule fit my lifestyle. I could take classes while they were at school, and also online. And do homework while they were sleeping at night, and that worked well for me.

Maybe the classes are going to be to hard; you’re going to be on your own?

The staff at the center that I attend have been very helpful throughout my college career, and I soon made friends just through study groups… And these friendships do last through the years, and help you through your college career, but also help you through your life. That’s been a great part of coming to school here.

I needed flexible classes and flexible schedules…

I have taken several online classes throughout the last 3 years, and I find that I really like them. They fit my schedule and my lifestyle. The convenience has been wonderful; to be able to stay at home and do my homework, and do my classes while still being a mom.

And you feel like you can’t to this because of your family or your schedule, or you’re just afraid to come in and start….

Don’t be afraid. It’s very doable. There are people here that will help you to get on the right path to earn your college education. I feel that coming back to college was a great idea, it’s been a great example for my children, even though they are young. I feel that them seeing their mom go to school has made a great impression on them. So it has been great for our family!
