Apply for financial aid by submitting your FAFSA online or by attending a free MEOC workshop. Seek out scholarships.

Schedule a placement test designed to help you and map your starting points in Reading, Writing and Math.

Following your placement test you will meet with an Student Services Coordinator to register for your summer, fall or spring semester courses and sign-up for new student orientation.

Have copies of your official transcripts sent directly to the University Application Processing Center from all of the schools you have previously attended, including: High school, Adult Education, GED test scores (students can send a copy of their own scores) and previous colleges.

Get the information you need to transfer with confidence–within the University System and to and from other institutions.

Self-assessment: Course equivalencies for over 1300 institutions may be found on the MaineStreet Equivalency Tool.  Equivalency for General Education Categories are identified for appropriate courses.

The Maine Community College System and the University of Maine System have established a reverse transfer agreement that makes it possible for students to earn an associate degree or certificate by combining credits from their university with credits previously earned from their community college.

Veterans: Submit previous transcripts. As veterans, you need to submit all official transcripts from ALL your previous colleges, including military and DD-214 as well. You can request your electronic military transcripts thru Joint Services Transcripts at

AdvantageU. Maine’s Community College to University Guaranteed Admission Program.

Articulation Agreements. To help you reach your educational goals, the University of Maine System has created more than 70 transfer agreements among its universities, with the Maine Community College System, and with other institutions. Please contact a university transfer officer for more information.

Apply as early as you can!

Admission deadlines vary from one campus to another, so check with the admissions office of the campus to which you are applying.  Generally, it takes about 1-1/2 to 2 months to complete the admission and financial aid application processes, from start to finish.

Application fees: Most campuses charge $40.00 for each application submitted.
